the introspective interview with jeff meaningless by Luci B.

Ism: So Jeff, what is the name "The Introspective" all about?

Jeff Meaningless: We are a strange generation that is witnessing extraordinary events in our lifetime. It seems like for the first time, again, humans are about to go through a sort of gate of destiny. I like what Gandhi said, "...I like your Christ, but I don't really care for the christians...", and then to quote Christ, "The kingdom of heaven is within you." So we are about initiation, transcendence, and the musical expression of those processes, related to the worldview we are all facing. Because inside of us, that's where the real revolution takes place, in the hearts and minds of the people. I hope we convey that message in our music.

Ism: Ok, wow. So, you're a politically charged band?

Jeff Meaningless: We certainly comment on politics at large, but I think the core of our music is about solving the world's problems by intellect instead of trusting the power elite to fix everything. Because they'll just get greedy and rule us like dogs again unless we use our brains against them. People should have the right to a little space to work out their lives, and corporations certainly make a mess of that chance.

Ism: Well then what are you doing to solve the world's problems?

Jeff Meaningless: We take it one day at a time, one person at a time, but we evangelize in our own way everyday. Boycotting commercial crap and opening your mind to the vast potential inside you. You know your body is essentially a battery powered radio transmitter/receiver? Surfin the Akhashic record. We live in a time where you can research almost all recorded history at the click. Music history at that. The average music lover has 10,000+ songs on their iPod, it makes it hard to tell exactly what your influences are. I usually tell people that it's what Mozart said, "Music for music's sake." Music is the instrument by which we bring peace to our environment, and that's what we do.

Ism: Ok. That's rad. Sounds like you guys have a plan.

Jeff Meaningless: Yessss.

Ism: I've heard your first single, "Baal Bop", and I've gotta say, it's quite catchy. Sonically, it has a raw feeling to it that I love. Can you tell a little about this song?

Jeff Meaningless: Ok so I wrote this song actually a while back and it was the first song we learned as a band. Here's what it's about: Everything. Granted it's a little cryptic, but I tried to sum up a lot of concepts at once, which is part of the puzzle to me. Being able to put into a box, or being able to build a bigger box, either way, all life is is life.

Ism: Ok we've got time for one more...when is the next show? And any last words then?

Jeff Meaningless: The next show is at Reno's in deep ellum on Saturday Marfch 26, the details should be on our reverbnation or facebook. Thanks for the interview, Luci. If there's confusion with just what you want, hold yourself up to the light and see what you're made of.
